Volunteer
Volunteers are an integral part of SafeHomes and our mission to transform victims of domestic violence into survivors. By giving your time and talents, whether you volunteer at the administrative office, prepare a meal for the residents in our shelter or promote SafeHomes throughout a 10-county service area, you are positively affecting the community in which you live. Currently we have three levels of volunteering at SafeHomes:
Level 1:
Volunteers at this level can perform the following tasks:
- Special Event volunteers
- Drop off meals
- Donation drive drop off
- Donation Day Support
-These volunteers will assist with staffing donation day, and return items to the storage unit

Level II:
To volunteer at level two volunteers must complete volunteer application and a background check.
Volunteers at this level can perform the following tasks:
- Any Level I volunteer tasks
- Donation Day Lead
-These volunteers will pick up donation day supplies, and return them to office
-These volunteers will assist with staffing donation day, and return items to the storage unit
- Preparing Meals (In House)
- Group Volunteers
- Empowerment Hour Presenters
Level III:
To volunteer at level three volunteers must complete 19 hours of initial domestic violence training, 1 hour Volunteer Orientation, a volunteer application, and a background check.
Volunteers at this level can perform the following tasks:
- Any Level I and Level II volunteer tasks
- Shelter float
- Child Watch
- Resource Fairs
- Grocery Shopping
- Front Desk
Qualifications
- If you are a survivor, it is important that you have been out of the domestic violence relationship for at least two years.
- Must be at least 15 years of age or older.
- Must understand the importance of maintaining all codes of confidentiality.
- Must have an acceptable public record and reputation.
- Must have the desire and passion to give back to the community and help those who have been affected by domestic violence.

We encourage any volunteers to make a donation of $25 to offset the cost of the background check fees. You will be given a SafeHomes T-Shirt for your donation.
