Our Core Values

Safety and Confidentiality

Ensuring the safety and well-being of survivors, their children, and the community is paramount. This includes providing secure shelter, crisis intervention, and safety planning. We prioritize confidentiality in all interactions and uphold strict privacy standards to protect survivors’ information.

Empathy and Compassion

We demonstrate empathy, understanding, and compassion towards survivors and their experiences to build trust and provide effective support.

Culture of Giving

SafeHomes’ culture is built on the belief that giving comes in many forms and that through time, talent, and treasure, it is the responsibility of all staff members and all board members to be an active participant in both giving and in advocating for efforts which provide sustainability.

Teamwork

We trust and respect the role that each team member plays in achieving the organizations’ mission. We believe that working together as a cohesive unit can achieve great success, innovation, and effectiveness. We leverage the diverse skills and perspectives of each team member, and foster an environment to heal, empower, and transform lives.

Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusivity

We provide consistent support to all victims, regardless of the range of human differences, including but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and politicial beliefs.

Trauma-Informed Care

We utilize an organizational and intervention approach that focuses on the impact of trauma on individual’s life, including how it may affect their response to services. We are guided by four assumptions:

  • Realization: About trauma and how it can affect people and groups
  • Recognition: The signs of trauma
  • Response: Have a system that can respond to trauma
  • Resist: Re-traumatization
